For
Production Builders

Narrow is building the first subscription-based architectural licensing platform designed specifically for regional production builders. Professional plans, architect support, and code compliance — without the overhead of an in-house design team.

You're too big for stock plans.
Too small for an in-house architect.

Regional builders constructing 10–200 homes per year face a difficult middle ground. Generic stock plans lack the support and code compliance you need. Custom architectural firms charge rates that eat into your margins. There hasn't been a professional-grade solution built for how you actually work — until now.

Subscription-Based Plan Licensing

A new model that separates platform access from content licensing — giving you professional plans, ongoing architect support, and predictable costs.

🔑

Subscribe to the Platform

An annual subscription gives you access to Narrow's full library of production-ready architectural plans from verified, licensed architects. Browse, compare, and select plans designed for the way you build.

📐

License Plans as You Need Them

Pay a per-plan licensing fee to use any plan in your builds. Architects keep the vast majority of that fee — meaning you get access to serious talent with a real incentive to keep plans updated and production-ready.

🏗️

Build with Architect Support

Every licensed plan includes access to the original architect for modifications, local code adaptation, and buyer customizations. No more "dead files" — your plans stay alive with the professional who designed them.

Architect on Standby

This is what sets Narrow apart from every stock plan marketplace. When you license a plan through Narrow, you're not just getting a file — you're getting a professional relationship with the architect who designed it.

✏️

Modifications & customizations

Buyer wants to flip the floor plan or add a bonus room? The original architect handles it — no guesswork, no third-party drafters.

📋

Code compliance & permitting

Plans are adapted for your local jurisdiction's building codes and requirements, so you go from plan to permit without delays.

💲

Discounted professional rates

Architect services through Narrow come at a fraction of custom firm costs. Professional-grade support at production-builder pricing.

The Problem with Stock Plans

Traditional plan marketplaces sell you a file and walk away. Every site works the same way — download, figure it out, hire someone else to make it work.

❌ Dead file problem

You get a PDF or CAD file with no connection to the architect. Need a change? Start over with a local drafter who didn't design it.

❌ No code compliance

Stock plans are generic. They don't account for your local codes, wind loads, snow loads, or energy requirements.

✅ Narrow's approach

Licensed plans stay connected to the original architect. Modifications, code adaptation, and buyer customizations are handled by the person who designed it.

Who This Is For

🏘️

Regional Production Builders

You build 10–200 homes a year. You need a library of proven, production-ready plans — not one-off custom designs. You want architect support without the overhead of hiring a full-time designer.

📐

Builders Without In-House Design Teams

You don't have a staff architect and don't want to pay custom firm rates for every subdivision. Narrow gives you access to a network of architects whose plans are designed for production building.

📊

Cost-Conscious Operators

By year two, your per-plan cost drops significantly because the subscription covers license renewals. The more you build, the more you save compared to traditional stock plans or custom architecture.

Questions About the Builder Subscription

Is this replacing the free homebuilder experience?

No. The subscription-based licensing model is being built exclusively for regional production builders. If you're an individual building one or two homes, Narrow's full platform — including the plan marketplace, architect directory, contractor matching, and mortgage referrals — remains completely free.

What does "Architect on Standby" actually mean?

When you license a plan through Narrow, you have direct access to the original architect for modifications, buyer customizations, and local code adaptation. Instead of getting a dead file, you get an ongoing professional relationship — at a fraction of custom architecture costs.

How is this different from buying stock plans?

Stock plan marketplaces sell you a file with no ongoing support. Narrow's subscription model includes architect access, code compliance support, and plan modifications — all tied to your subscription. Plans are living documents with a professional behind them, not dead files.

When will the builder subscription launch?

We're currently working with a small group of pilot builders to validate the licensing model and recruiting architects with production-ready plans. In the meantime, you can browse our architect directory and plan marketplace today to see what's available.

How do architects benefit from this model?

Architects keep the vast majority of every licensing fee — creating passive income from plans they've already designed. They also gain ongoing paid work through the Architect on Standby service. It's designed to be a win for both sides of the marketplace.
